Caroline’s hospitality career, which has spanned over 30 years, started in 1980 when she moved to London from Staffordshire. She excelled at various roles within Radisson Edwardian Hotels over 19 years being awarded Sales Person of the Year in 1992, one of the most difficult of trading years. Other highlights include positions at Thistle and Guoman hotels and as Director of Sales at The Royal Horseguards and Grosvenor Hotels. Most recently, she gained experience on the other side of the business having joined Limeblue Venue Solutions, a conference and event agency. Being passionate about both M&E and Revenue, Caroline brings invaluable expertise to Smart Space Strategy where she can bring her knowledge from both sides of the business to help introduce Smart Space to the industry.
During her career, Heather has worked for a wide variety of hotel companies, predominantly in London and the UK, but has also spent 2 years in the USA, and has included working for Forte Hotels, Holiday Inn, Radisson Edwardian, Guoman and Initial Style Conferences. Throughout this time, she gained years of diverse experience in Rooms Management, Systems Training, Sales & Marketing and Revenue Management in both Rooms and Meetings & Events. Having established an excellent track record in commercial management, she has been both technically and process driven and this led her to establish RevExcel, her own revenue management consultancy 8 years ago. RevExcel delivered clear, pragmatic expertise to implement, develop and enhance the performance of hospitality businesses through the application of simple Revenue Management principles, process and effective strategic planning.
Understanding the business inside out, gave Heather the insight and forethought to develop the limited set of spreadsheet tools that she had been using within her consultancy into the cloud based application that it is today.
Having graduated from Ealing College, Jane started working in hotels in 1988 in Edinburgh and having specialised in conference and events in a number of hotels within the UK, this eventually took her to IBM where her career diverted into the world of IT. She developed her skills through a number of technical and non-technical roles at country and regional level working in numerous alliance, partner and ISV focused roles. Now 20 years later she fuses together both career paths at Smart Space to bring the benefit of her diverse experience.
Mary Shaughnessy has developed a wealth of experience throughout her career, developing into the operational side of the hospitality business. With over 25 years working for some of the world’s premier Hotel brands such as Forte, Le Meridien and Jumeirah she understands how important it is to bring the practical side of the business in line with sales, marketing and operations. After holding several key positions including Assistant General Manager; Revenue Director and Commercial Director within hotels, Mary has acted as an independent consultant, providing interim holiday and maternity coverage for Revenue/Rooms Management on an International basis as well as revenue and yield strategy assistance; training and coaching and auditing for hotels on a one to one basis in the UK. This experience brings the perfect balance to Smart Space Strategy of practical capability and operational excellence.
Kim’s diverse hospitality career started with Forte Hotels in the central conference and incentive arena, moving to data management and distribution in her later years with the company. Her particular focus has been electronic distribution, central operations and most recently product management. Known for her leadership and hands on skills, Kim brings extensive knowledge to the team in particular product development, service delivery and project management, having worked for several other global hotel chains such as Hilton, Millennium & Copthorne as well as the hotel technology partners Amadeus and Sabre Hospitality Solutions.
